About Vintage Avaition

VintageAviation.org was created for people who believe that airplanes have stories worth preserving—not just in museums, but in memory, conversation, and continued appreciation.

The site is owned and curated by Corey James, a lifelong aviation enthusiast based in the Midwest. Living within easy driving distance of Experimental Aircraft Association headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Corey has spent years attending airshows, visiting aviation museums, and walking flight lines where history is still very much alive. From warbirds and trainers to classic general aviation aircraft and early airliners, VintageAviation.org exists to document and celebrate the aircraft that helped shape flight as we know it.

This site approaches vintage aviation from an enthusiast’s point of view. That means a focus on:

  • The history and design of classic aircraft
  • Why certain airplanes continue to inspire devotion decades later
  • Restoration culture, preservation efforts, and airshow appearances
  • The broader context of aviation’s “Golden Age,” wartime eras, and postwar growth

VintageAviation.org is not about breaking news or technical manuals. It’s about appreciation—understanding why a DC-3 still turns heads, why a Stearman sounds the way it does overhead, and why a simple fabric-and-tube aircraft can feel just as important as a jetliner.

Whether you’re a longtime aviation buff, a casual airshow attendee, or someone who just enjoys the romance and engineering of early flight, this site is meant to be a welcoming place to explore, learn, and revisit aviation history one aircraft at a time.

Thanks for stopping by—and if you ever find yourself standing along a flight line, listening to radial engines warm up, you’re already part of the audience this site was built for.
